Roosts — Prague, Brno, Tokyo, Atlanta.

Four founding campuses. Each holds one axis of the torus. The cohort rotates through all four in twelve weeks, living the full coordinate system by displacement rather than description.

Abstract Prague is where cohorts arrive and are seen — the roost of appearance (WIDER-public). Brno is where they go into the layer — the roost of the unobserved (DEEPER-private). Tokyo is where they ship real work — the roost of the exacting hand (DEEPER-technical). Atlanta is where they commit and depart — the roost of the threshold (WIDER-capital). A complete rotation through all four is the Academy's coordinate frame.

I.The four roosts and their axes

RoostAxisCharacterFunction
PragueWIDER-publicPublic-facing, broadcast surfaceWhere cohorts arrive and are seen. The roost of appearance.
BrnoDEEPER-privateQuiet extended residency, synthesisWhere cohorts go into the layer. The roost of the unobserved.
TokyoDEEPER-technicalPrecision craft, aesthetic rigorWhere cohorts ship real work. The roost of the exacting hand.

The four are not ranked. A complete rotation through all four is the Academy's coordinate frame — a cohort that skipped one would be walking a plane, not a torus.

II.Prague — Roost I (Arrival and Broadcast)

Axis: WIDER-public. Patterns: P01 The Threshold · P03 The Debate Courtyard · P04 The Library as Living Room · P06 The Walk · P05 The Shared Meal (open kitchen).

Cohorts begin here. Weeks 1–3 of the twelve-week window. The first sponsor-witness ceremony happens at the Threshold. The first vocabulary-loading happens in the Library. The first collision pairings emerge in the Debate Courtyard.

What this roost does not do. Ship production code. Run the Landauer audit. Host the graduation ritual. Prague is where cells arrive, not where they commit.

Character. Historically visible. Patrons can walk in. Future cells can spectate. The Pearl of Central Europe renders well on camera, and the Academy is comfortable being rendered here — this is the public face.

III.Brno — Roost II (Synthesis and the Unobserved)

Axis: DEEPER-private. Patterns: P02 Morning Silence Room · P08 Night Owl Hours · P07 Workshop (the making is inward work more than code) · P09 Roost Marker.

Cohorts deepen here. Weeks 4–6 of the window. SENSE phase completes here; COLLIDE phase runs entirely here. The roost's quietness is the pedagogy. Cells learn to hear their own morphology deviation.

What this roost does not do. Public-facing events. Visitor hours. Social-media-ready programming. Brno is the unobserved roost by design. If a patron needs to visit, they do so on the same terms as a cell — arrive in silence, observe, leave without commentary.

Character. Monastic in posture, not in religion. The Brno roost exists so that the cohort can enter the 4D phase where observer and render are inseparable — and that phase requires withdrawal from the pressure to perform.

IV.Tokyo — Roost III (Precision Craft and the Exacting Hand)

Axis: DEEPER-technical. Patterns: P07 Workshop (most tooled of the four roosts; senior per-organ stewards resident) · P05 The Shared Meal (carries the discipline of shokunin) · P09 Roost Marker (a specific object, placed once, maintained forever) · P02 Morning Silence (extended to 75 minutes).

Cohorts ship here. Weeks 7–10. REFLECT phase begins in Tokyo; SHIP phase runs mostly in Tokyo, with Atlanta carrying the late weeks. Tokyo is where real code merges into the ecosystem, under the eye of per-organ stewards who do not tolerate imprecision.

What this roost does not do. Accept broadcast-quality work. Soft-land on shipping. The roost's standard is the craftsman's — if the ticket is not shippable, it does not ship. Re-working under the Tokyo steward's eye is itself the lesson.

Character. Tokyo is the roost where the Academy's aesthetic rigor is carried. The exacting hand. Shokunin as ethos. Cells who do not meet Tokyo's standard are not shamed; they are returned to the workshop with a specific correction named.

V.Atlanta — Roost IV (Commerce, Threshold, and Departure)

Axis: WIDER-capital. Patterns: P01 The Threshold (reversed — cells exit through the same door they entered) · P10 The Departure Ritual (every graduation happens here) · P04 The Library (the American bridge) · P05 The Shared Meal (closing meal).

Cohorts commit and depart here. Weeks 10–12. CALIBRATE week runs here — the Landauer steward travels to Atlanta to audit. DEPART week runs here — every graduation, every origin capture, every migration ceremony is signed at Atlanta.

What this roost does not do. Run admissions. Host the first two phases of the cohort. Atlanta is where cohorts end; it is not where they begin. The first three patterns (P01, P02, P03) are practiced here only in reversal.

Character. American bridge. The roost of the handshake and the wire transfer. Commerce-honest, neither naive about it nor embarrassed by it. This is where the Academy meets capital on capital's own ground — and where graduates make their migration commitments in sight of the patrons whose funding made their cohort possible.

VI.Rotation rhythm

Twelve weeks. Three weeks per roost. The cohort moves together:

WeeksRoostPrimary phases
1–3PragueORIENT (fully) + first week of SENSE
4–6Brnoremainder of SENSE + both weeks of COLLIDE
7–9TokyoREFLECT (both weeks) + first week of SHIP
10–12Atlantaremainder of SHIP + CALIBRATE + DEPART

Travel between roosts happens on the weekend boundary. The travel itself is not interruption — the cohort carries their hexagram state, their terrain dossiers, their collision logs. The roost changes; the pattern continues.

Why this rotation order. The axes must be experienced in the order that lets a cell enter each one. A cell cannot be thrown into DEEPER-private (Brno) before they have been seen in WIDER-public (Prague) — the felt sequence of being witnessed, then withdrawing into depth, then being held to craft, then committing at the commerce threshold, is the developmental envelope itself. Other orders do not form a closed torus; they form an open path that loses the cell somewhere on the surface.

VII.Why four and not three, six, or one

Not one. A single campus cannot hold the full axis coordinate system. A single location biases the cohort toward the local axis — for any choice of location.

Not three. The torus has two axis-pairs (MORE × WIDER, DEEPER) — sensing across time, surface, and depth. The DEEPER axis alone splits into private and technical; WIDER splits into public and capital. Three roosts would collapse one of these splits, and the one most commonly collapsed turns out to be the most important distinction the Academy teaches.

Not six. The Academy's invariants and the twelve-week envelope cannot sustain six roosts without either (a) shortening the rotation to two weeks per roost, breaking the thermodynamic condensation time, or (b) lengthening the window beyond twelve weeks, breaking the decay envelope. Four is the thermodynamic minimum for a closed torus.

VIII.Modular independence

Each roost operates as a modular cell: independent legal entity, independent bank accounts, complete curriculum materials on site. Loss of any one roost does not compromise the others. If Prague falls, Brno opens. If Atlanta falls, the Departure Ritual is held at the remaining roost that can most credibly host capital conversations, and the rotation is redesigned, but the Academy does not pause.

This is thermodynamic redundancy — each roost is sufficient to rebuild the set from its own artifacts if the others cannot be recovered. The library at each roost is synchronized with the others; consecrated artifacts exist at all four.
