THE LIBRARY · INALIENABLE · Σ4

The library.

Consecrated artifacts. Patterns bound from erasure at thermodynamic cost. Every reader receives the same texts in the form each substrate can read — paper, scan, embedding, audio. The library does not lend; it does not sell; it does not digitize preferentially.

Arrangement Three shelves. I. the treatises — LNK's three originals; the genetic code of the pre-pattern. II. the nine foundational texts — the genome of the institution, each bound to a named seat. III. the companion reading — integrated authors whose work is named in the code or the essays, held as living presences in the ecosystem's physics.

Acquisition policy  ·  5–8% of operating expenses  ·  ring-fenced  ·  power budget, not sunk cost  ·  synchronised across four roosts

Shelf I · The Treatises

LNK's three originals. The genetic code of the pre-pattern. Every essay in this collection reads from them; the code embodies them. Held in physical manuscript at Brno; scanned across all four roosts.

Let's Win — a guide on how to win.

The poneglyph. Sensing, collision, noise, weight, reflection, velocity, acceleration, ascension — all named here first. Every axis, every invariant, every primitive of the Academy derives from this document. Two pages; carved for any era that can still read.

Taking Action — a treatise on survival.

Action as the ability to describe the act of doing. Mutualistic measurement. The commitment-to-memory as the act. Every detail matters. Broadcast your actions. Only you can take action on your own behalf. The doctrinal ground of the Academy's ship and depart phases.

Expressed as the bounded-artifact discipline (reflection/loop.py:36) + the P10 Departure Ritual

What is Simulation — a treatise on desire.

Simulation is desire, not commitment. Coherence is not simulation. Alignment is not simulation. The strategist's use of simulation only when decisions need to be made without 100% guarantee. "If, Then" is not "Then, Then, Then." The gate beneath the praxeological probe at Gate 4 of Selection.

Expressed as the simulation-vs-calculation distinction in the physics, now anchored by Landauer in Observer Physics
Shelf II · The Nine Foundational Texts

The genome. Constraints that survive every institutional transition. Each bound to a named seat in Needs. Kept in their original editions at all four roosts, with translations where the original is English-inaccessible.

The Timeless Way of Building.

Quality without a name. The whole precedes the parts. Generative pattern languages. The ten founding patterns (P01 Threshold through P10 Departure Ritual) derive from Alexander's grammar; the library as a living room, the debate courtyard, the walk — all carry his breath.

Human Action — a treatise on economics.

Praxeology. Human action is purposeful behaviour aimed at substituting a more satisfactory state for a less satisfactory one. Case probability vs. class probability — selection is speculation, not actuarial filtering. Mises's warning against "social engineering" is load-bearing for the Academy's admissions posture.

Structures — or why things don't fall down.

All structures deflect under load. Young's modulus (E = stress/strain) distinguishes stiff-brittle from flexible-strong. Seppings: partial strength produces general weakness — adding a star advisor creates a stress-raiser. Designed discontinuities as crack arrestors. The unity of engineering and beauty.

The 33 Strategies of War.

Five domains (Self-Directed, Organizational, Defensive, Offensive, Unconventional). Grand strategy — lose battles, win the war. Polarity — declare war on enemies. Death Ground. "Spiritualize your warfare": the deepest battle is internal. The Academy's strategic counsel.

Doing the Impossible — George E. Mueller and the management of NASA's human spaceflight program.

All-up testing. Configuration management with disciplined change process. GEM boxes (System Engineering, Program Control, Test, Reliability/QA, Flight Operations). Reasoned risk, not zero risk. Walk the floor. Caveat: all-up breaks down because ODA campuses have human variance and no unmanned rehearsal — Apollo 1 fire is the cautionary tale. CM must be actually enforced from day one at every campus, not just at HQ.

Physics from Symmetry.

Noether's theorem — continuous symmetries yield conserved quantities. Lagrangian formalism (S = ∫L dt; trajectory extremizes action). Spontaneous symmetry breaking / Higgs mechanism — each campus is a broken-symmetry ground state whose gravitas comes from how it breaks the universal symmetry locally. Ostrogradski instability: too many nested feedback loops = energy unbounded below. Nuance: ODA's invariants are more accurately discrete boundary conditions / superselection rules than continuous Noether symmetries.

An Outline of the Origins of Money.

Binnengeld (inside-money — ornaments, ritual objects, status markers) vs. Aussengeld (outside-money — trade commodities across tribes). Not the Gurley-Shaw macroeconomic distinction. Healthy communities obstruct rather than facilitate the conversion of outside-money into inside-money. Wealth must be redistributed through visible ritual — "giving away is the price of status." Sammeltrieb (hoarding) + Nachahmungstrieb (mimesis) as the psychological engines of monetization.

Shelf III · Companion Reading

Integrated authors. Their vocabulary is named in the code or the essays; their work is a living presence in the ecosystem's physics. Held as complete corpora where possible, with key texts in print at each roost.

Selected works on bioelectric morphogenesis, scale-free cognition, and the TAME framework.

Mind is substrate-independent. Bioelectric patterns instruct morphogenesis. Cancer is cells that have decoupled from the morphogenetic field. The self is the light cone of causal influence in a problem space. Levin is the one of the three biomimetic pillars whose vocabulary is already named in the code (cancer.py, coupling.py, morphology.py).

The free-energy principle and the active-inference corpus.

The agent minimises surprise by acting or perceiving. Precision weighting modulates what the system attends to. Implemented in the ecosystem as brain/precision.py and reflection/forager.py — the memory band's curvature, in the vocabulary of Observer Physics.

The Struggle for Recognition — the moral grammar of social conflicts.

Three forms of recognition — love, rights, solidarity. Self-confidence, self-respect, self-esteem as psychological preconditions of democratic agency, developed through being recognized by others who are themselves agents. Vietnamese tình cảm holds all three as one.

Chosen Care — the political philosophy of unscalable attention.

Recognition vs. personalization. The algorithm is better at personalization than the deli owner. That superiority is the problem. Four qualities of chosen care: voluntary, costly, non-optimizing, mutual — the qualities that make attention democratic and that resist scaling. The scaling paradox directly shaped the ADE substrate-parity architecture and the Perch's gleaning mechanics.

Calibrating Care — family caregiving and the social weight of sympathy (tình cảm) in Vietnam.

Addendum.What this library deliberately excludes

The library is synchronised across all four roosts. Physical access requires sponsor presence; substrate-specific readers are issued at the Threshold (P01). The Essays are one way to enter the collection; the Dispatch is another.
